ABSTRACT

Covid-19 patients have coagulation complications resulting in poor prognosis. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the prevalence of coagulation disorders in patients with Covid-19 admitted to Shahid Sadoughi Hospital in Yazd. This study was a cross-sectional study that all patients admitted with a diagnosis of Covid-19 from the beginning of February 2020 to the end of April 2020 were examined for the frequency of coagulation dysfunctions. A total of 441 patients with Covid-19 were included in the study with a mean age of 55.4 years that 47.8 %, 25.6 % and 6.8 % had impaired Prothrombin Time (PT), Partial Thromboplastin Time (PTT) and International Normalized Ratio (INR), respectively.Copyright © 2022, Health Biotechnology and Biopharma. ABSTRACT

The aim of this study was to investigate the most common symptoms of COVID-19 patients in Yazd. This study was done during 2020-2021. All patients with positive PCR test were entered to this study. Finally, data was analyzed by SPSS software. The most common symptoms of COVID-19 patients were shortness of breath, fever and cough. There was a significant relationship between diabetes, lethargy, myalgia, chills, fever and loss of taste. Several symptoms including weakness, lethargy, dry cough, decreased appetite, were significantly more in the autumn season. According to the findings, the symptoms could have different prevalence in patients with underlying disease.Copyright © 2021 Health Biotechnology And Biopharma. All Rights Reserved.

ABSTRACT

Mucormycosis in COVID-19 patients of severe type has been reported. This study was intended to evaluate ESR, CRP, LDH, CPK, D-Dimer, BS and FBS levels in COVID-19 patients with mucormycosis. Information was recorded including gender, age, hospitalization and recovery. The laboratory parameters contained ESR, CRP, LDH, CPK, D-Dimer, BS and FBS levels. There was a significant relationship between LDH and CPK level with hospitalization, and also, between CRP and gender. Finally, there was a significant difference between the age groups in terms of ESR. Our study showed that LDH and CPK, CRP and ESR should be considered as laboratory tests in the hospitalized COVID-19 patients with mucormycosis. © 2022, Health Biotechnology and Biopharma.

ABSTRACT

COVID-19 infection is still widespread around the world. It has been demonstrated that albumin is a biomarker in COVID-19 diagnosis. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between blood albumin and clinical status of COVID-19 patients. In our study, patients older than 18 years admitted to a hospital in Yazd with a positive PCR test participated. Related data was analyzed by SPSS software. 34.2 % of the men with lower than normal albumin levels needed to be admitted to the ICU. Also, 32.8 % of the women with lower than normal albumin levels needed to be admitted to the ICU. The results of the present study showed that the patients with lower serum albumin needed to be admitted to the ICU more than other patients. © 2022, Health Biotechnology and Biopharma. ABSTRACT

The aim of this study was to determine the extent of tobacco and drug addiction to opium, methamphetamine and heroin in hospitalized patients due to COVID-19. In this cross-sectional descriptive study, the rate of smoking and drug addiction among COVID-19 patients admitted to Shahid Sadoughi hospital in Yazd was investigated. A total of 500 patients were studied and patient information such as smoking and drug use history, dosage, type of substance, length of hospital stay and severity of the disease were extracted in this paper. Then the data were entered into SPSS software and analyzed. No significant relationship was found between patients sex (Main genetic factor) and smoking with disease severity. Also, no significant relationship was found between smoking and length of hospital stay. Also, there was no significant difference between the severity of clinical symptoms in drug users and other subjects. In this study, the prevalence of smoking among COVID-19 patients was about 6.6 %. © 2021 Health Biotechnology And Biopharma. All Rights Reserved.
